‘Grandest playhouse ever seen’ to benefit Family Sunshine Center’
Some lucky little girl (or boy) will be on cloud nine after April 29, when a drawing is held as part of the Family Sunshine Center’s second annual Making Homes Safe Havens fundraising event, for what some onlooker described as “the loveliest and grandest little playhouse I’ve ever seen.”
Shawn York, a builder whose magnificent work is showcased along the heartwarming Avenues of the Waters in east Montgomery County, constructed the playhouse with the help of generous volunteers. The playhouse, with its quaint tin roof and delightful front porch, was lovingly painted, inside and out, by residents of The Waters.

Builder on firm ground in business at age 30

The youngest member of the Builder's Guild at The Waters is 30-year-old Shawn York, who has been building houses for a third of his life. With 15 homes under his belt at the Pike Road community, his next project is to be the exclusive builder of a new development on Lake Martin. It is his first exclusive deal.
York turned 30 in September, which is why, when asking around about York's reputation, you might hear something like "the kid's got tremendous energy." That's what Andrew Gerachis, assistant director of marketing and sales at The Waters said, followed by a polite correction of "kid" to "man."
